I originally started at UWE Bristol on a two month temporary contract, however after another month of contracting, I was employed as a permanent Artworker working within the Strategic Communication and Engagement team. I work across all of the university's outputs, both print and digital, and have led and managed the creative outputs for numerous campaigns including the advertising for the annual degree shows. I have quickly picked up the brand guidelines and taken it upon myself to ensure that the rest of the design team are following them as necessary. Working on a large amount of OOH outputs has helped me to be able to self-assess my work in situ and learn what works and what needs to be improved for future designs. Calling upon my existing knowledge base, the variety that this job has given me has enabled me to continue to improve my understanding of animation and After Effects in particular.
For just over five years, I was as a Senior Creative Artworker at a design agency in Central London/remotely from home in Bristol (February 2016 – December 2016). The job involved laying out reports, white papers, brochures, solution briefs and other official papers for large international clients, recreating technical diagrams, resizing advertisements, working on templated documents, working on presentations in PowerPoint and creating assets for use online. A large part of my job was spent on IBM jobs and I was the IBM brand guardian for most of my tenure. This means that I have a lot of experience of working within corporate guidelines and ensuring that the rest of the creative team were aware of the latest updates and are implementing them correctly. In addition to my day-to-day duties, I spent time trying to expand my skill set by taking training sessions in animation software (Adobe Flash, Adobe After Effects), advanced presentation software (PowerPoint, Prezi) and a web design platform that enables visual wireframing of websites (Webflow).
Prior to The Frameworks I was working at a small advertising agency in Botley, Hampshire. The job involved designing and resizing a variety of print artwork for press, flyers/leaflets, newsletters, corporate literature and larger posters. This job enabled me to enhance my knowledge of creative software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and helped me better understand the technical elements of graphic design such as the print process from initial design through to completed artwork and preparing artwork for print via Adfast or email. My work involved creating artwork to adhere to corporate guidelines as well as creating individual artwork. Working at MediaQuest made me used to working on multiple jobs at the same time, working to tight deadlines and effectively communicating with clients, media and colleagues.
Units studied include: Portfolio Building, Creative Concepts and Visualisation, Art Direction
and TV, Press and Print Production.
During the third year of my degree, as part of an Agency Simulation unit, I had to work in a group of four to rebrand IBM’s
female networking group. The project enabled me to work on a live brief for the first time, interact directly with clients in a professional environment and be part of an effective team.
